Strategic Planning

In an ever-changing environment and with often dwindling resources, the need for districts to proactively shape their future has never been more critical. This is where strategic planning becomes an indispensable tool. The Bryan Group’s strategic planning process is structured, methodical and based on behavioral science, similar to our other offerings. We assist districts and other organizations to set long-term goals, assess their current standing, and design actionable steps to achieve their vision.
Far from being a static exercise, strategic planning is a dynamic, ongoing process that helps education leaders anticipate challenges, capitalize on opportunities, and align their resources effectively. It empowers districts not only to survive but to thrive in an increasingly complex landscape, ensuring that day-to-day decisions are made with a clear understanding of long-term objectives.
We know there are four concerns districts have when they look into strategic planning:
- The cost
- How long it’s going to take
- How much depth of planning is required to meet your goals
- Will the plan actually be used
We are flexible in assisting you to plan for only as much as necessary to meet district goals. Level of community input can be adjusted, previous planning work can be incorporated, and student involvement can be considered.
Do It Yourself
- An in-depth process but it can easily be done by districts on their own, without the need to spend funds on consultants.
- We give you all the step-by-step instructions and exercises/tools you will need to form the teams and execute the strategic planning process with quality and fidelity.
- Use the staff you already have to create a process that comes from within the district and is tailored to what's important to YOUR district, staff, and stakeholders.
- Increased buy-in is only one of the many benefits of The Bryan Group Strategic Planning Process.
Done With You
- A middle ground between DIY and DFY, Done With You involves districts leading processes themselves, but receiving 1:1 help from The Bryan Group team. DWY is more affordable than DFY and less time-consuming than DIY, creating a perfect solution for districts that want personal guidance as they develop their processes.
- All DIY materials are included in this program along with regular calls with a TBG team member for guidance and support.
Done For You
- Our flagship service in which The Bryan Group team leads all the activities of the process, involving the client district as much or as little as the district desires.
- Our expertise and legwork free up district staff and search committees to participate in the most impactful parts of the process.
High Praise from Our Clients

There is no one with a more in depth understanding of education leadership development needs than Bill. His training programs were huge eye openers for leaders in our and surrounding districts. His ability to motivate leaders to up their game is unparalleled. In addition, my school was able to employ his “initiative and program mapping” process to create a focus on what was most important, and ensured that our energies were targeted on those activities that were most influential in improving student performance.

The Bryan Group staff is highly skilled in executing the search process, including building an effective working relationship with search committees and boards. They are very adept at successfully navigating the political challenges that often accompany the search process. This is why we use them to conduct all our superintendent searches.
– Barrett M. Christina, former Attorney and Executive Director of the NH School Boards Association

One of the things that struck me was the recognition by search committee members of the value of the process he taught us that could be used beyond the immediate search process, e.g., making better hires in the district, and for those working in the community, making improvements in hiring for their businesses.
– Keith Pfeifer, Ed.D., former superintendent of the Monadnock, NH School District

Bill helped us significantly improve student performance through many different organization capacity building processes. He also provided us with competency-based hiring training, to include the use of the Guided Storytelling Interview methodology which we now employ with the hire of every leader, as well as teachers. He is the ultimate partner for any district or school redesign process. Change leadership is his forte.
– John Freeman, Ph.D., former Superintendent of the Pittsfield, NH School District
